Share files with customers and partners
Send a file to somebody outside the company without e-mailing an attachment.
An e-mail attachment leaves your control the moment it is sent, and it is the reason most companies cannot say who has which version.
Where to find itDocuments / files → File sharing.
Step by step
- Open Documents / files → File sharing → File manager and upload what you want to share.
- Create the share under Manage sharing: who may see it, and for how long.
- Send the link. The recipient does not need an IDup account.
- Manage download shows what has been downloaded, by whom and when.
- Reports aggregates it; Settings holds the limits and the defaults.
Google Drive
If your documents live in Google Drive, Documents / files → Google Drive connects it: settings for the account, then Google Docs and Google Sheets reachable from inside the workspace.
What to share and what not to
- Give a share an expiry date. A link without one is a link forever.
- Share the document area's record rather than a copy, so there is one current version.
- For a customer who should see many things over time, portal access is better than repeated shares.
