Subscriptions and recurring billing

Bill the same customer the same amount on a schedule, without creating each invoice by hand.

Recurring revenue is only an advantage if it does not cost recurring work. A subscription in IDup produces its invoices on its own.

Where to find itSales & billing → Subscriptions.

Step by step

  1. Open Sales & billing → Subscriptions and create one for the customer.
  2. Set what is billed, how much, in which currency, and how often.
  3. Set the start date and, if there is one, the end date.
  4. Save. Each period, the invoice is created and — if you set it that way — sent automatically.
  5. Change or stop the subscription when the arrangement changes; invoices already issued are not touched.

Subscriptions versus recurring invoices

  • A recurring invoice is one invoice set to repeat. Good for a fixed retainer.
  • A subscription is a standing arrangement with its own lifecycle and, where you use them, its own products. Good for a service a customer signs up to and cancels.

The subscription shop

If you sell subscriptions as products, IDup Shop ABO holds the subscription products, the product groups and the purchase log — see The subscription shop.
