AI accounting: receipts read and booked for you
IDup reads supplier, amount, VAT and date off a receipt and suggests the booking. You confirm it.
Automatic reading removes the typing. It leaves the decision with you. After reading, IDup asks you to check the fields and then book.
Two ways of reading
Text recognition reads the receipt on your device or in your browser. An AI model that looks at the image is the second way. They are counted separately against your plan.
Step by step
- Give IDup the receipt — photographed in the app, or scanned or uploaded on the web.
- IDup fills in supplier, date, amount, tax rate and a suggested category.
- Check the fields. Anything it could not read is listed after Not recognised, please enter:.
- Choose how it is booked: as a paid expense, or as an open supplier bill with a due date.
- Save. The image stays attached, and the booking is in the ledger.
Which plans have it
- Business, tax advisor and trustee plans: included.
- Private Plus and Premium: included, shown as AI-assisted bookkeeping.
- Private Basic: not included. The receipt scan itself is in all three private plans.
What it does not do
- It does not book without you. Every suggestion is confirmed by a person.
- It does not invent a field it could not read. It names the field and asks.
- It does not decide your accounting policy. The category it suggests is checked against your own chart of accounts.
When your monthly number is used up, IDup shows a message and stops reading until the next period or an upgrade. See Capture receipts.
