AI accounting: receipts read and booked for you
The AI reads supplier, amount, VAT and date off a receipt and proposes the booking. You confirm it.
The point of automatic reading is not to remove you from the process. It is to remove the typing, and to leave the judgement where it belongs.
IDup is explicit about the handover: after reading, the app says the receipt has been read and asks you to check the fields and book.
Step by step
- Give IDup the receipt — photographed in the app, or uploaded on the web.
- IDup reads it and fills in supplier, date, amount, tax rate and a proposed category.
- Check the fields. Anything it could not read is listed explicitly after “Not recognised, please enter:”, so you are never left guessing what is missing.
- Choose how it is booked: as a paid expense, or as an open supplier bill with a due date.
- Save. The image stays attached, and the booking is in the ledger.
Which plans have it
- Business, tax advisor and trustee plans: included.
- Private Plus and Premium: included.
- Private Basic: not included — capture receipts manually instead, which is fully supported.
What it does not do
- It does not book without you. Every proposal is confirmed by a person.
- It does not invent a field it could not read; it names it and asks.
- It does not decide your accounting policy — the category it proposes is a suggestion against your own chart of accounts.
