Cash, bank accounts and money in and out
Keep the cash box and the bank accounts in IDup so the ledger matches reality.
The bank balance is the one number that can be checked against an outside source. Keeping the accounts in IDup is what makes that check possible.
Step by step
- Open Cash/Bank List and create one entry per real account: the cash box, each bank account.
- Set the opening balance under Account opening balance, so the running balance is meaningful from day one.
- Record money coming in under Account income and money going out under Account withdrawal.
- Move money between your own accounts with Transfer — this is one booking, not two unrelated ones.
- Use Settings in the same menu for the account types and the defaults this area uses.
Payments against invoices
A customer payment is recorded on the invoice rather than here — see Record a payment. It then appears in the account you booked it to.
The wallet
Finance → Wallet is a separate, smaller thing: a prepaid balance per customer. Its overview shows the balances, and its settings decide how it may be used.
Nothing is tracked — the buttons only open a message so you can tell us what was missing.
