Prepare and file a tax return

IDup compiles the documents for your tax return from the books, shows the deadlines and hands the package to your accountant.

A tax filing mostly restates what the year already says. IDup therefore starts from the ledger. You file with your tax authority. IDup does not submit for you.

Where to find itFinance → Tax returns

Step by step

  1. Open Tax returns → Overview. It shows the returns and deadlines for your country.
  2. File VAT under VAT return. See The VAT return.
  3. Open Annual tax return. It shows the financial year, your country and the deadline. For Swiss companies the deadline comes from the canton.
  4. Click Create document package. IDup builds a ZIP with the financial statements and prior year, trial balance, general ledger, fixed asset register, receivables and payables, VAT returns, payroll journal and receipts.
  5. Click Hand over to accountant if someone prepares the return for you. They are told by bell and the hand-over is logged.
  6. File the return with your tax authority.

The package comes with a read-me that states the deadlines and that this is not tax advice.

Germany

For companies in Germany, ELSTER (Germany) is a separate entry in the menu.

Switzerland, more

For Swiss companies the annual tax return page also holds a reconciliation from the income statement profit to taxable profit, and a list of attachments. Under Year-end closing, the Cantons tab has a checklist for each canton. It contains only what an official source confirms. Missing items are marked not documented.

If a professional files for you
