Tasks, checklists and to-dos

Tasks belong to the work, to-dos belong to you, and reminders are for things to remember.

IDup has more than one kind of task on purpose. A task belongs to the work. A to-do belongs to you.

Where to find itProjects & Tasks → Tasks.

Tasks

  • Open Projects & Tasks → Tasks, or create the task directly on a project, a customer, an invoice or a ticket. It then stays attached to it.
  • Give it an owner, a due date and a priority.
  • Add followers if other people need to see it without owning it.
  • Use a checklist inside the task for its steps. A checklist template saves rebuilding the same list.
  • Log time against the task if you bill by the hour.
  • Above the list, My tasks shows what is overdue, due today, due this week, later, or waiting.

To plan with views, dependencies and templates, see Plan work with views, dependencies and rules.

More task tools

  • Task manage adds task groups, a group pipeline and project grouping for teams that work in batches.
  • Task bookmarks keeps the handful of tasks you return to daily.
  • Filter tasks and Task Filter Templates, under Reports & Ideas, save the filters you use repeatedly.
  • Import Tasks, under Automation / Workflows → Utilities, brings a list in from a file.

My To Do

Projects & Tasks → My To Do is your own list, with a To Do List, To Do Category and Settings. It is private by design. It is the place for “call the landlord” next to the work that belongs to a project.

Reminders

Projects & Tasks → Reminder sends you or a colleague a prompt at a date you set, attached to the record it concerns. Use it when the thing is not work to be done but something to be remembered.
