Projects, and what your customer sees of them
A project holds the tasks, the time, the costs and the files of one job. You decide what the customer may see.
A project in IDup is where the work, the time, the costs and the files for one job live together. It is also the cleanest way to answer “how is it going?” without writing an update.
Step by step
- Open Projects & Tasks → Projects and create one for the customer. If you have none yet, choose Create first project.
- Set the dates and the billing type: fixed price, per hour, or by task.
- For billing by hour, enter the hourly rate. Enter the Estimated hours if you want a time budget.
- Add the members who will work on it.
- Break it into tasks. Each task has an owner, a due date and a status.
- Mark what the customer may see. Visibility is per item. A task, a file, a milestone or a discussion can be visible or internal.
- Watch the project overview for time booked, costs and progress.
In the app
Open projects in the app to see status, tasks and time. A connected customer sees their projects in their own area, limited to what you marked visible.
Making progress visible without extra work
The customer portal shows the project status, the visible tasks and the visible milestones. When the status changes, connected customers can be told by push notification. See Tell a customer when a project moves.
Around projects
- Project Roadmap: all projects at a glance, with duration and progress.
- Project Kanban: the board view of your projects.
- Project templates, under Documents / Files: entries grouped by category, with their own settings.
- Workload: who is over-committed, before they tell you.
