Tasks, checklists and to-dos
Three different things with three different purposes — and when to use which.
IDup has more than one kind of task on purpose. A task belongs to the work; a to-do belongs to you.
Tasks
- Open Projects & tasks → Tasks, or create the task directly on a project, a customer, an invoice or a ticket — it then stays attached to it.
- Give it an owner, a due date and a priority.
- Add followers if other people need to see it without owning it.
- Use a checklist inside the task for the steps it consists of; a checklist template saves rebuilding the same list.
- Log time against the task if you bill by the hour.
Task management and grouping
Task management adds task groups, a group pipeline and project grouping for teams that work in batches rather than one task at a time. Task bookmarks keeps the handful you return to daily. SI Task filter saves the filters and filter templates you use repeatedly, and Import tasks brings a list in from a file.
My to-dos
Projects & tasks → My to-dos is your own list, with its own categories and settings. It is private by design — the place for “call the landlord” next to the work that belongs to a project.
Reminders
Projects & tasks → Reminder sends you or a colleague a prompt at a date you set, attached to whatever record it concerns. It is the right tool when the thing is not work to be done but something to be remembered.
Nothing is tracked — the buttons only open a message so you can tell us what was missing.
