Newsletter recipients and consent
Who receives a newsletter, how leads give consent, and how unsubscribing works.
A newsletter should only reach people who may receive it. IDup handles this for you.
Who is a recipient
- Customers and their active contacts are recipients automatically. A new contact is included at once. Deactivated contacts are not.
- Leads only receive a newsletter if they gave consent. Leads without consent are not written to.
- A setting lets you also write to leads without consent. It is off by default. Check the law in your country first.
How leads give consent
- Through the sign-up form, a landing page or a web-to-lead form.
- With the double opt-in: the person confirms by e-mail.
- A button in the lead record sends the confirmation request.
Each consent is stored with the time, the source and the way it was given.
Choose a group
Choose customers, leads, status, source, assignee, tags, country or language. A counter shows how many people will receive the mailing and how many are excluded, with the reason. Each person gets the mailing in their own language. If that language is missing, your company language is used.
Unsubscribe
- Every mail has a footer with your company name, address and an unsubscribe link. The footer cannot be removed.
- The unsubscribe page opens in the language of the recipient. A reason is optional.
- The unsubscribe takes effect at once, also from the button in the mail program.
- A person can subscribe again later.
Nothing is tracked — the buttons only open a message so you can tell us what was missing.
